A DEPENDABLE ALLY

📜📜TEXT: PSALM 86:1-10📜📜

🔑📖 KEY VERSE: “In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me” (PSALM 86:7).

The psalmist poured out his heart because he was in despair. His poverty was not economic but spiritual, in that he realised he needed the help of God in his life. The prayers of many people centre mostly on material and physical needs. They never ask God anything about their spiritual life and upliftment. This is not good.

People fret in the midst of troubles because they do not have that personal touch with God who can do all things. Such people have not proven the possibility of all things with God. David proved that there was nothing he would ask of God that he would not receive.

Again, why would a man like David bother himself with prayer? He was a king and he had everything money could buy, and was not in want of anything. It was not lost on David that whether poor or rich, every man born of a woman has challenges which defy natural solutions. This is the point at which many people have erred. They try to manage their lives without inviting the Creator who knows everything about us. David’s prayer was to ask help of God. Today, many troubles that only the power of the Lord can solve do bother humans.

Whether single or married, rich or poor, employed or unemployed, literate or illiterate – man’s troubles are numerous. It will serve believers well to always go to God in prayer and exercise the same implicit confidence David exhibited. He was sure of surmounting every problem or challenge with the help of the Almighty. It is therefore, vain for anyone to indulge in self-management, which leads to avoidable regret and pains.

✍🏽 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your destiny is hidden in Christ; don’t panic.
