presence of God

How many times have you heard Christian brothers and Sisters say..”I don’t feel the presence of God in my life”?

What is God’s Presence?

God is present everywhere but to answer this question, we will relate it to the relationship between you and Him and whether His Spirit lives in you. God’s presence can be explained to mean the emotions you feel when you come before him, the fear you have of Him if you have fallen or being disobedient, the comfort you get from His word in times of trouble, and the closeness of God to you in worship and prayer.

God’s Presence is needed for our good. Christians need to be in His presence all the time however, we get empty and as a result of sin miss God’s GPS location and even forget that he exists.

This is often a sign of emptiness if we can not feel God in and around our lives.

Being a Christian and not feeling God’s presence can be akin to being alive yet not feeling your heartbeat or pulse.

Those who are God by His name must feel his presence and be people of his presence. This requires that we connect to God one and all through the power of the Holy Spirit which unifies us with God.

Today, we are busy chasing the world and more seriously the world has made us so busy and distracted every minute of our lives which has pulled us away from His presence.

The 21st-century church must continue to prioritize its duty as institutions called to presenters of God’s presence in the world and to the world.

As individual Christians, we ought to create the needed space for God in our time, busy schedules, and lives so that for the presence of God to be felt and known by us.

When you realize God’s presence is far away, it is time to take the rush train back to base with him.

4 ways the Christian can experience and sense His presence

#1. Confess Your Sins To God

When sin is the reason hindering you from the presence of God, it is good to come clean with God. God’s Presence can not co-exist with unconfessed sin. Sin can be what is blocking and preventing your ability to communicate with God and you.

The reality is that God has not left you but rather your unconfessed sin can make you lose touch with him.

For day and night, your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord” — and you forgave the guilt of my sin” (Psalms 32:3-5).

#2 Read the word of God aloud

There is power in the word of God, when you cannot feel His presence, read his word aloud. The word of God is sharper than a double-edged sword…(Hebrews 4:12). Reading this sharp word aloud with purpose can prick through your heart, conviction, inspire you, and help you reconnect with God.

#3 Honour God with a Love Song

Fall in Love with Song and sing Him a love song. God loves to be praised and connects with those who praise him. Just flashback to the feeling you have when you sing songs of praise at Church during a serviceHymns, worship songs and praises songs clear the obstacles hindering our experiencing of God’s presence. God presents himself when worship or praises songs are sung to Him. Songs of praise and worship, lift us out of our presence into his presence as we focus on him.

Through these songs, your heart is opened and connected to his powerful presence. He then meets us in the worship mood and we feel his beautiful presence.

#4 Pray And Call Upon His Name (God)

Prayer is one of the powerful ways to connect and reconnect to God if you lose the connection and miss his powerful presence.

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Speak with God and invite him back into your life. You can say “Jesus, I am dry, I need you and your presence, please guide my heart and live back to where you want it to be. I long for your presence, I present my life back to you. Own it, God, guide it Lord and nurture it. Jesus, give me a heart that longs for your Holy Spirit and presence and let your presence be with.

God’s presence is not far, take a step of faith, let Him in, and burn bright for him.
