Biblical Illiteracy of Christians

Biblical Illiteracy of Christians is real today. Have you read your Bible today? How often do you read your bible? Is reading the Bible a habit or a once a while tradition?

Today’s Christian is faced with critical challenges that cannot be overlooked. In our series, on GospelSeromons.com, we shall uncover some of these 21st-century challenges of the Christian and further challenge both Christians and none Christians with what we can do to turn these challenges into opportunities for the kingdom business.

Many Christians of today are like the unwatered tree by the stream. The word of God is closer to them yet, they are reluctant or overly busy to read the word. For many, it is a weekly custom to dust the bible a few minutes before leaving for the next church service. The word of God clearly states that “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6).

Christians of today are very much preoccupied with many things hence do not even realize they have stopped referencing and visiting their Bible. Whiles many do not read the Bible today, many more do not study it. Shockingly, research in America showed that not less than 82% of Christians in the US believe the quotation “God helps those who help themselves” is a Bible Verse.

Alas! It is not. Biblical Illiteracy of Christians is real today. If you also thought this is from the Bible, now you know. Reading the Bible would enlighten us all as the Bible becomes our reference point in these trying times in the world.

Do not live in your biblical illiteracy and say you are a Christian. Arm yourself with the word and proclaim the promises thereof in it whiles you obtain empowerment from the word.

There are over 50% of people in the US who also believe that Sodom and Gomorrah were husband and wife. If Christians shall dedicate at least an hour a day to reading the word of God, the benefits to today’s Christian will be enormous.

6 Reasons why we must read the bible

#1  The word of God is a sword to the warrior Christian hence we all need to be saturated with the word of God. It will arm you to the teeth against all the tough times, trials, temptations, and many more.

2# Reading the word brings you face to face with the plans and promises of God for your life, family, and everything that concerns you.

#3 Reading the Word and meditating on it can provide solutions, peace of mind, and make you wiser day in day out.

#4 It’s a guide that helps shape your life for the better, it rebukes, corrects, warns, and teaches us what to do.

#5 It helps us to understand and know God better, appreciate the usefulness of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

6# If you want to know the mind of God, the state of man, and the way to salvation, then read the bible.

These and many more are the benefits that have eluded many Christians as a result of not reading the Bible. Many Christian lives are on a ventilator, others have been quarantined by sin and many more are dying and need the word of God to deal with their thirst.

It is time to go back to the first love, get a bible or install one on your mobile phone or any electronic device you have, and connect to God through his word.

Read your bible, and pray every day if you want to grow.
