Are You Waiting On God?

Are you waiting on God? Are you a believer who has lost the patience of waiting for God? The two questions are not the same, but in this article let us look at the first question.

To wait on God implies putting days aside to have some quality time with God which may be done along with fasting.

So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.  Daniel 9:3

It can denote a long period aimed at fasting and praying to God.   waiting on God can also mean a quiet period during which you listen for God’s direction. If Christian brothers and sisters want to get closer to God, it requires waiting on Him.

Waiting on God requires leaving all other things that will distract your commitment and attention. In today’s 21st century, this may include your electronic gadgets, your family, your job, and your home just to have a fully concentrated mind for God.

If Christians want to encounter God and his powerful spiritual atmosphere like never before, then waiting on Him is the way to go.

The Procedure for waiting on God

1. Move out and from distractions into a far and quiet place. Today many move to mountainous areas, prayer camps, and other places where less human presence is seen.

2. To have an encounter with God, engage in spiritual exercises such as praise, worship, worship songs to draw God into your spirit, mind, and soul. 

3. Examine your life for sins, things you do, or engage in that hinder you from experiencing the power and presence of God. Confess all the sins and come clean with God.

4. The word of God is medicine to the soul and spiritual life of the believer. Study and meditate on the pure word of God 

5. Let your tongue be filled with bullets and fires of prayer. Speak the word through prayer. Offer the right prayers such as praying for spiritual direction in all this as you are led by the spirit.You cannot wait upon the Lord Pray without prayer. Through God’s direction while praising, reading scriptures, and worshiping Him, let your prayer hit the roof of heaven.

6. When you speak with God in prayer, you also need to hear him speak to you. Wait in patience and obedience to the Holy Spirit and Jesus our Lord for God to speak. Be still before God Ps. 46:10 

Through waiting on the Lord, God would move in your favour and make you a new person, a blessed child. Remember, there are many instances when we as Christians must wait upon the Lord. This is a spiritual exercise hence “Let us desire to be strong spiritually through regular waiting on God for his will, direction and purpose for our lives.
